First Meeting with the Tunisian Diaspora in Brussels

First Meeting with the Tunisian Diaspora in Brussels

Wednesday 02-22-2017

Organized by FIPA Benelux and the Tunisian Office for Tunisians abroad (OTE), a meeting between the representatives of the Tunisian supporting organizations and the Diaspora was held on Saturday 18th February 2017 at the Tunisian Cultural Centre in Brussels.

About 100 Tunisians resident in different regions of Belgium and Luxembourg made the trip to participate in this meeting and to meet with the representatives of the related sectors. The meeting lasted three hours in a warm atmosphere and was enhanced by two presentations about the commitment of the Diaspora to the economic development process of Tunisia and the successive presentation of the various public services represented in Brussels.

FIPA Benelux representative presented the "Tunisia 2020" perspective with its major projects and its new legal scheme while representatives of the Tunisian Customs presented the advantages granted to investments promoted by foreign-resident Tunisians.

The participants' contributions reflected an unconditional commitment to the economic development process launched by Tunisia. The import of equipment in the context of an investment project was also one of the most debated issues with the Tunisian Customs officials who travelled to Brussels.

It should be noted that upon participants' request this first initiative will become an annual event.
