The labor market provides skilled workers and specialized manpower.

The governorate has seven public vocational training centers training over 6,800 trainees in the fields that are most required by the companies located in the governorate such as clothing manufacture, construction, leather and footwear.

The region also has three higher education institutions training more than 5000 students in various disciplines such as technological studies, scientific studies and studies relating to cultural activities:

A Quality Infrastructure

The governorate is served by the Tunis-Sfax Highway and three road networks with dense traffic allowing quick access to the governorate. Furthermore, a railway line connects the coastal towns of the governorate to the capital.

The governorate also has the largest commercial port "The Port of Radés " which covers 90 % of container traffic and 95 % of the rolling traffic.

Ben Arous is also located within 30 minutes drive from the International Tunis-Carthage Airport.

Several Industrial Zones are available and equipped to accommodate new projects including that of Mégrine, Sidi Rezig, Rades Ezzahra and the El M'ghira modern zone.

The technological infrastructure is reinforce by the support of the Technopole of Borj Cédria that specializes in renewable energy, water, environment and plant biotechnology and the Aeropole El-Mghira which is an integrated industrial platform extending over an area of over 200 hectares and exclusively dedicated to aeronautics.

Diversified Economic Activities

The governorate of Ben Arous appears as a major industrial site with more than 580 industrial enterprises (with a workforce of 10 or more employees), including 226 totally exporting units. Most of these companies operate in the sectors of electrical & mechanical industry, and textile, clothing and leather industries.

With its abundant water resources (27 hill lakes, 5 hillside dams, a dam and a sheet of deep ground water of 21.9 million cubic meters), the governorate has an agricultural potential mainly based on arboriculture and floriculture as well as the production of red meat, poultry and milk.

The governorate has a financial and banking network of over 54 agencies representing major Tunisian banks.
